I would first identify the work that affects customers or deadlines the most. Then I would reassign people based on skills, pause lower-priority work, and communicate the temporary plan. For example: We will focus on urgent customer orders first, move Sam to dispatch because he is trained there, and delay inventory cleanup until tomorrow. I would also tell my manager if the staffing gap creates service risk.
