The first major challenge is environment contention. When 10 or more teams share a limited number of test environments, conflicts are inevitable. One team's deployment may break another team's tests. Data modifications by one tester can invalidate another's test scenarios. Scheduling becomes a constant negotiation. The strategy to address this is environment isolation. I advocate for on-demand ephemeral environments that each team or even each test run can provision independently. Using containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes, teams can spin up complete environments in minutes. Each environment is isolated, used for a specific purpose, and destroyed afterward. This eliminates contention entirely.

The second challenge is environment consistency. Test environments that do not accurately reflect production lead to false confidence. Tests pass in a test environment but fail in production because of configuration differences, missing services, or different data volumes. Infrastructure as Code solves this problem. I use tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Helm charts to define environments declaratively, ensuring that every provisioned environment matches a known configuration.
