I would quickly identify which situation has the highest risk of harm, delegate appropriate tasks within scope, and inform the charge nurse if workload creates a safety risk. I would communicate the decision clearly: "I am going to assess the unstable patient first, ask for help with the routine task, and return to the lower-risk item after the immediate safety concern is addressed."
